What AI writes#

  • Catch me up summaries, How I got here, and notes on how sources relate on a rabbit hole.
  • Answers when you ask someone's internet, or search for something the community has explored.
  • Suggestions in the composer: an order for your links, branches, topics, and a title.
  • Rabbit in comments and conversations: type @ and pick Rabbit, or write @rabbit. In a comment, Rabbit reads the rabbit hole and the thread, then replies there; it doesn't answer on private rabbit holes. In a conversation, it reads that conversation's recent messages and answers in it, where everyone in it sees the answer. Once Rabbit has answered your comment, it can't be edited, so the answer always fits what you asked. Delete your comment, or unsend your message, and Rabbit's reply goes with it.
  • Rabbit on boards. On any board you can edit, tap Ask Rabbit (or press /) and type or speak: sort notes into themes, tidy up, make a mind map, flowchart, or timeline from a sentence or pasted notes, connect pages, or ask about the board. It works from your account, so it can only change what you could, and one Undo takes back its changes to the board while the board is open. It asks before deleting or rewriting more than 10 items, and before changing the Trail. Ask Rabbit on boards comes with Plus; on Free, the button shows what Plus adds.
  • Once a day, or sooner when a sitting looks like a rabbit hole, Rabbit looks through your recent browsing and finds the specific rabbit holes in it, leaving out errands and pages that only share a broad subject. Each one arrives named and summed up, pages that wandered off are left out, and pages that carry on a rabbit hole you're on show up as You kept going. After days away it catches up, up to the past week but never more than two days from before you turned it on, and Home says While you were away, Rabbit found 3 rabbit holes. If White Rabbit is open in the background when Rabbit finds some, it can tell you by push or in a while-you-were-away email: how many, and in which browser, never what they are. It's off until you say yes: White Rabbit asks once the extension connects, and you can change your answer in Settings → Capture & privacy.

In Catch me up, How I got here, and answers about rabbit holes, every claim links to the Trail steps it came from, and claims that can't be tied to a real step are dropped before you see them. Rabbit on boards points to the items it used when it can; check them before relying on its answer.

Choose a model#

White Rabbit can use Claude (Anthropic), GPT (OpenAI), or Gemini (Google), depending on what's available. In Settings, under AI, choose one, or leave it on Automatic. If a model is unavailable, White Rabbit falls back to another. Rabbit on boards always uses GPT (OpenAI), whichever you choose, and is off when OpenAI isn't connected.

When no model is connected, White Rabbit's on-device engine writes everything instead. It only rearranges what's already in a rabbit hole, so it never makes things up.

Rabbit's allowance#

Everyone gets a daily and weekly allowance of Rabbit, measured in tokens: how much Rabbit reads and writes for you, so a quick reply uses a little of it and a big board request more. Plus gives you twice as much, and Ask Rabbit on boards comes with Plus.

In any 24 hours
Free300,000 tokens

In any 7 days
Free1.2 million tokens
Plus2.4 million tokens
AllowanceFreePlus
In any 24 hours300,000 tokens600,000 tokens
In any 7 days1.2 million tokens2.4 million tokens

What you use comes back 24 hours later for the day, and 7 days later for the week. See how much you've used under AI and usage in the menu under your profile picture, or in Settings → AI. If Plus ends, the Free allowance applies again, and what you used in the past 7 days still counts.

Rabbit's own work, like its daily look through your browsing or refreshing a rabbit hole's summaries in the background, counts too, but it stops a little before the end, so the rest is left for what you ask. When your allowance is used up, Rabbit tells you when it refills. Until then, questions about someone's internet are still answered by the on-device engine.

What's never sent#

Private stays private

Your private rabbit holes are never sent to an AI model, unless you or someone on one asks Rabbit on its board: then what Rabbit needs from that board is sent; or taps Ask Rabbit to explain how its pages connect: then those pages' titles, sites and the text our server reads from them are sent; and the titles of private rabbit holes only you are on go in Rabbit's daily look while Let Rabbit find your rabbit holes is on, unless you turned it on before October 20, 2026. Your messages aren't either, unless someone in the conversation mentions @rabbit; then only that conversation's recent messages are sent. Your browsing isn't either, except page titles and search queries, site names, which page led to which, and time spent, once a day, while Let Rabbit find your rabbit holes is on, never full addresses. A chat's boards are sent only when someone in the chat asks Rabbit on one. When you ask about someone's rabbit holes, only the ones you're allowed to see are used.

Accuracy and limits#

AI can be wrong. Check the sources before relying on anything, and don't treat AI output as medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice.

To keep things fair for everyone, besides your allowance, each person can make only so many AI requests in a short time. If you reach that, try again a little later.
