The Trail
- “roomba history rodney brooks” (google.com)
- Roomba (en.wikipedia.org)
- IRobot (en.wikipedia.org)
- Rodney Brooks (en.wikipedia.org)
- Subsumption architecture (en.wikipedia.org)
What I came away with
Brooks argued robots didn't need a world model, just layers of simple reactive behaviors that override each other. That's basically how early Roombas worked: bump, turn, spiral, follow the wall.
