The Trail
- “how was the leaning tower of pisa fixed” (google.com)
- Leaning Tower of Pisa (en.wikipedia.org)
- John Burland (en.wikipedia.org)
- Geotechnical engineering (en.wikipedia.org)
What I came away with
In the 1990s engineers slowly drilled soil out from under the north side so the tower settled back, reducing the lean by about 45 cm. Straight enough to be stable for centuries, crooked enough for tourist photos.
