a sitcom about a rock station, full of real rock songs. a licensing nightmare

What I came away with
The original music licenses only covered a limited number of years. Later syndication prints swapped in stock music and even dubbed some lines with soundalike actors where dialogue overlapped songs. The 2007 Season 1 DVD replaced a lot of music too; a 2014 release got back 'the vast majority' but not all.
