The Backrooms photo was finally traced to an Oshkosh hobby shop

It started in May 2019 when someone on 4chan's /x/ asked for images that just feel 'off,' and someone else replied with the rules: noclip out of reality and you end up in endless yellow rooms with buzzing lights and damp carpet.

What I came away with

The photo was taken in 2002 during a renovation in a former furniture store in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and posted on a HobbyTown franchise's renovation blog. Nobody figured that out until 2024. The room doesn't exist anymore; it became an RC car racing track. Kane Parsons' series became an A24 film released in May 2026.
